Amazing Animals 9 - ORIGAMI - PECULIAR PENGUIN

b                                                                                        The penguin descr        ibed here is an easy model that can either be kept flat or 2D to place on a card or it can be formed into a 3D creation.
It is very recognizable and captures most of the characteristics of this amazing animal.
Step 1
Place your square down with its points left and right, top and bottom, or in the diamond orientation.
Step 2
Fold the left edge over to meet the right edge.
Make a crease and unfold.
Step 3
Fold the bottom point upwards to reach around one quarter of the way.
It does not have to be precise, so just take a guess here.
You can use the vertical center crease to help you fold straight upwards.
The bottom edge of the model now forms a straight line from left to right.
Step 4
Turn the paper over from left to right.
Step 5
Fold in the left and right sides, starting from the top point of the shape.
This is like a kite fold, but do not fold the sides in all the way to the center vertical crease.
Leave a space open along the entire center of the model.
Crease well on both sides and leave folded.
Step 6
Fold the top point down about a quarter of the way, to form the head.
Step 7
Fold the penguin in half using a mountain fold. To do this you can pick the model up and fold the sides away from you until they touch.
Step 8
Now turn the model so one of its flat sides is facing you.
Step 9
Pull the beak out and a bit upwards so it forms an angle in relation to the head.
Step 10
Flatten the back of the penguin's head so it will stay in place.
Step 11
You can make the penguin into a more 3D shape by pinching the feet so they form a flat surface.
This will allow the body to spread out a little, forming a triangular shape and the penguin to stand on its own.
You might need something heavy to place behind the figure to keep it standing in place.
Say hi to your Peculiar Penguin and please share this with someone you think might like it.
